Seventh Doctor- Portrayed by Sylvester McCoy

Seventh Doctor- This Doc started his stint as a comical character, but soon developed a darker nature and began to realize Doctor’s duties. When this Doc comes into existence, he is confused and suffers from amnesia, due to being chemically induced by Rani. Soon, he ruins Rani’s plans. After this, he encounters an old enemy Fenric along with Daleks, Hand of Omega, Time Lord, Cyberman and Gods of Ragnarok. This Doctor has efficiency to keep his plans secret; he is contemplative, serious and easygoing. He manipulates the people as chess pieces and plays deep games. He uses his great intelligence in assessing and directing events while saving the universe. Later, the Doctor is given responsibility to transport the remains of The Master from Skaro to Gallifrey. Doctor is unaware that despite having a limited physical form, The Master is able to take control of the TARDIS. He causes it to land in 1999, San Francisco. Here, during a gang war, Doctor gets injured and dies in the operation theatre. Under the influence of anesthesia, he doesn’t regenerates into the eighth incarnation immediately and does it after several hours in the mortuary.

Life and Career- He is a Scottish actor, best known for his role as the Seventh Doctor in “Doctor Who“. He portrayed the character from 1987 to 1996. He is born to an Irish mother and English father and was raised in Dublin. During his youth, he was trained for the priesthood, but he soon gave that up and started working in the insurance industry.

He was discovered by Ken Campbell, while he was working in The Roundhouse box office. His first popular work was a comedy act in “The Ken Campbell Roadshow”. He also played popular stuntman character called “Sylveste McCoy” in a play entitled “An Evening With Sylveste McCoy”. Before getting popular as Doctor, he played a character named Pepe/ Epep, who lived in mirror in “Vision One”. He also appeared in the 1985 television miniseries about Robert Falcon Scott’s last Antarctic expedition, “The Last Place on Earth”.

In 1987, he joined “Doctor Who” and remained its part until the series was cancelled in 1989. Apart from this role, he also appeared in its charity special “Dimension in Time” in 1993. In 1996, he appeared in the cameo at the beginning of the “Doctor Who” television movie.

Being a comedy actor, initially his role in “Doctor Who” included clown like humor, but after public’s negative response to this Doctor form, the role was developed into a serious and responsible hero.

Aside from “Doctor Who”, he has worked in tele-movie “Beyond Fear” and presented a children’s program named “What’s Your Story?”

He also appeared in BBC Radio 4 comedy series “The Cabaret of Dr. Caligari”. He has also worked with Shakespeare Company in “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” in 2001 and “King Lear” in 2007. He also appeared in the 2008 television movie of the same name.

McCoy has worked in guest roles in “The Bill” and “Still Game”. In October, 2008, he has played a minor role of an injured ventriloquist on “Casualty” along with starring in BBC soap opera “Doctors”.

In 1997, he portrayed the same role of “Doctor Who”, while recording the audio for the video game “Doctor Who: Destiny of the Doctors”.
